Scilly's Special Species

Here you will find information regarding Scilly's special and talked-about species. In some cases they are endemic; please note that we have just picked a handful of species we are most commonly asked about as this list would otherwise be huge!

The Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust's habitat management and habitat restoration work aims to promote and support many of these species whilst our education programme hopes to raise awareness of these important often unnoticed Scillonian characters and visitors.

Do remember that we rely on donations to continue our work. If you have searched, found and learned about our wildlife on our website, please Support Us and give what you can; thank you.

The Wildlife Trusts – a movement of 46 charities across the UK – are, like others, dealing with unprecedented challenges caused by coronavirus. Restoring nature in the UK – one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world – has become harder than ever during the pandemic. At the same time, people are seeking solace in nature to relieve the hardships caused by lockdown.
