About Nextdoor Nature

Nextdoor Nature is bringing communities together to help nature flourish. Thanks to funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, we are offering advice and support to people and businesses on the Isles of Scilly who want to help nature.

Whether you live on Scilly, manage land or a farm, run a business, are a seasonal worker, go to school here or enjoy visiting our islands, we can help you be a Wildlife Hero who champions nature and helps wildlife to thrive.

We are facing a crisis. We cannot make lasting change on our own, we need our help from our community. We want to create a place where people and nature can both thrive. We want to use and develop people’s skills, local knowledge and experience and work together to make a positive change.

Personal actions are at the heart of making positive changes for nature. Every individual and every action counts, from popping up a window box to carrying out a mini beach clean, campaigning with your classmates to adding a pond to your garden or a community space.

Here are some of the ways that you can get involved:

  • Get your class, school or another group of young people involved in campaigning or projects.
  • If you're a teacher or parent, find out how to make nature part of childhood and teaching.
  • Learn about making your business more nature-friendly or connect your staff with local wildlife.
  • Manage your farmland, allotment, garden or greenspaces for wildlife.
  • Start a wildlife community project on your street, in your local area or on your island.

We would love to hear from you and work with you. Everyone we work with will be different and want to help nature in a different way, so we're tailoring our advice to your needs. We believe that everyone can make a positive difference for nature. It's our role to inspire, empower and enable you to make that difference.
