European Robin

Erithacus rubecula

The european robin is a familiar sight in many gardens across the UK, and is most typically associated with a snowy winter. Though you would be lucky to see a robin amongst the snow in Scilly, as our mild climate means snowfall is a rare sight to see.

The robin itself isn't amongst the most common species you will see on the islands, though they are to be found. They typically get out shone by our more bold species such as the song thrush and house sparrows, and are more inclined to make their way into peoples gardens and quite grassy areas.
