  • Seabird Conservation Strategy updated thanks to Isles of Scilly AONB funding!

    The Isles of Scilly Seabird Conservation Strategy (2018-2023) was endorsed at last weeks' Isles of Scilly Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (IoS AONB) Partnership Meeting by all partners following it's completion, thanks to IoS AONB Funding. The IoS AONB partnership have also undertaken ownership of the Strategy and will ensure that it is monitored and updated during its lifetime.

  • Volunteers Trained up to ensure Scilly Strandings are recorded.

    Marine Strandings Network

    Cornwall Wildlife Trust (CWT) volunteers have been collecting data on marine strandings for many years now and CWT have over 5500 records on their strandings database; the earliest dating back to 1308! However, records from Scilly are sadly lacking, but hopefully now we will be able to get Scilly back on the map and a better understanding of our marine wildlife.

    Meet Scilly’s newest Marine Mammal Medics!

    It’s been 10 years since British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) last ran a Marine Mammal Medic course on the Islands and for the last few years resident vet Heike has been supported with strandings and rescues of marine life by a couple of stalwarts, as well as members of the local dive community, Vet Support Group and other interested individuals.

  • Great Scilly Spring Clean Smashes it!

    Each year the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust coordinates and mobilises individuals, businesses and organisations across the Islands to carry out the Great Scilly Spring Clean Beach Cleans; taking place over the first weekend in March, coinciding with the Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean campaign.

  • Plastic Free Scilly

    On Friday 8th December 2017 the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust announced that Comms Officer, Nikki, has been accepted as a Community Leader with the Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free Coastlines. The Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust's work over the past few years, raising awareness of plastics and our marine environment, has started to gain momentum and community support coinciding brilliantly with the launch of Plastic Free Coastlines.
