Common Snipe

Gallinago gallinago

<< back

A lovely bird that is often seen around Scilly, the common snipe is an amber listed species as a result of population declines across the UK, particularly in lowland wet grassland areas. You are likely to see them when they get flushed from their resting place, flying away whilst making a squelch-like call.
