Kittiwake

Rissa tridactyla

The kittiwake, sometimes referred to as the true seagull due to the fact that it only ever comes in to land to breed, is always a treat to see on the islands. Listen out for calling its own name with a nasal "kitti-wake" call. Other distinguishing features is a daintiet appearance to other gulls, a slender yellow beak, and short black legs.
