Marine strandings network

On call every day of the year to investigate any stranded marine mammals that wash ashore dead on the Cornish and Scilly coast.

If you find a dead marine stranded animal or seabird call the Marine strandings network 0345 201 2626

The Cornwall Wildlife Trust Marine Strandings Network consists of a team of trained marine animal strandings volunteers. Information gathered is shared with their partners at the Natural History Museum and the Zoological Society London who use the data to research strandings across the UK.

The Network runs training sessions so local people can become strandings volunteers and record stranded marine animals. Courses are held annually in Cornwall and occasionally in Scilly.

If you would like to become a volunteer and contribute to vital research that will help find out why marine animals wash up dead on our shores, please contact the Marine strandings network for details of the next training session.
