    The Easter Holidays saw the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust teaming up with Newquay Community Orchard to deliver a series of sessions to the 8-14 year olds on the Islands.     Every year Scilly's business and residents get together to spruce up the Islands following the winter storms, and this year we've had our fair share; since Christmas we’ve had visits from Frank, Gertrude, Imogen and Jake. So the volunteers who turned out at the weekend for the Great Scilly Spring Clean 2016 definitely had their work cut out!

  • Seabirds prosper as local people and conservationists come together to make St Agnes and Gugh rat-free

    On Saturday 13 February St Agnes and Gugh in the Isles of Scilly have been declared officially rat-free after passing a thorough month-long inspection two years after the last signs of rat activity were spotted.

  • Second wave of marine protection welcomed by The Wildlife Trusts

    Today The Wildlife Trusts welcome the news that this Government is designating a second phase of 23 new Marine Conservation Zones (MCZs). This historic move illustrates a renewed impetus to protect the seas around our shores. It follows on from the announcement of 27 MCZs in 2013 and is the second of three phases promised by the Government in order to fulfil the remit of the Marine and Coastal Access Act.

    The Big Garden Birdwatch is taking place on the 30th and 31st January this year; it started as a children’s activity in 1979, and the same simple format is still in use today. That means that 36 years worth of records have been collected for scientists to analyse! So why not join in? It's really simple and easy to do and only takes up an hour of your time!
