Calf born on Bryher
The Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust are celebrating the arrival of a new pedigree calf, born on Bryher on Tuesday 11 April. This brings the size of the Red Ruby conservation herd to seven and
is the first of three calves expected in the next few months.
Red Ruby are said to be one of the earliest breeds of domesticated cattle in the British Isles. They are of an easy-going and gentle nature, easy calvers, good mothers and are able to exist
on the most sparse forage making them ideal for conservation grazing schemes.
