Scilly insects

The Isles of Scilly has plenty of wonderful insects, from the endangered Red-barbed ant to the Scilly bee. There are many bright, colourful and weird insects to see.

There are a variety of bees to be found in Scilly, some are rare and have specific requirements. All bees need a flower rich landscape to forage for food.

The Isles of Scilly is home to the rarest ant in Britain, locally known as the St Martin's ant.
