Oystercatcher

Haematopus ostralegus

Oystercatchers are a common sight around the islands, and can be seen in large groups around the coast. Throughout the breeding season, you will probably come to know them from their loud warning calls if they have a nest nearby, and during the winter months they can be seen jostling for position as they feed in and around rock pools.
